A few days ago, I blogged about Presley's reaction to the real princess here, but later that night, she did something that I must add to the story.
So back to my conversation with her the morning of the royal wedding:
Me: Presley, the princess is going to be the queen one day.
P1: When?
Me: (Not wanting to say "when the queen dies"): When the queen gets really old.
P1: When the queen gets really old, then the princess will be the queen?
Me: That's right.
P1: Where's the queen?
Me: She is somewhere there. I'll let you know if they show her.
Roughly 11 hours later, the news was back on while we were getting ready to eat dinner and the following conversation took place:
Me: Presley that lady in the yellow is the queen.
P1: Where?
Me: Right there. The lady wearing all yellow. That's Queen Elizabeth.
P1: She is really old? (At the time I thought this was a statement, but looking back on our conversation, I think this was a question. Either way, this is where she "caught" me. Queen Elizabeth, as you know, is an old lady.)
Me: That's right Presley. She is really old. (I was still oblivious to what Presley's next comment was going to be.)
P1: So is the princess the queen now?
(I'm joking about her "catching" me, because there was nothing but curiosity in her questions, but this impressed me. Maybe it shouldn't have because only that morning I told her that the princess would be the queen when the queen got really old, but I never saw this coming during our conversation. Usually I can see where she is heading when she asks something. I ended up telling her that the princess would be the queen when she turned 30.)
I love my grand inquisitor!
