Pink Egg

Things and games that Presley and Paxten enjoy come and go, just like anything with kids, but one game that Presley has loved for almost a year now is "Pink Egg."  It is quite simple really and only daddy plays it with her.  I've heard her throwing a 3 year old crying fit when mommy wouldn't play with her, but of course daddy always saves the day.  The game is so simple and quick, but Presley loves, loves, loves it.  We can only play it when she is getting out of the bath or shower, so we can only do it once a day, but she doesn't always bathe every day, so it can be less frequent.
Here is how it works.  As Presley gets out of the bath, I put a pink hood towel on top of her.  After I do this, I carry her to her bed and lay her down.  At that point, I cover up her feet and her head with the towel so she can’t be seen.  At this point, she is the “pink egg,” and I wait for her to start shaking and then “hatch.”  Most of the times when she hatches, she says “meow,” but sometimes she’ll be a bear cub or any other type of animal she can think of, but 90% of the time, she is a “baby kitten.”  Obviously, we haven’t explained to her that mammals don’t come from eggs yet.  Like I said, she loves, loves, loves, this game, but it isn’t always “pink egg.”  The other day she showered in our room, and since I dried her off with a white towel, we played “white egg.”  In fact, at a birthday party on Sunday, her party favor was a pink and purple poke-a-dotted towel, and the first thing she said when she saw it was, “Can we play pink and purple egg?”  I told her we could when she used it to get out of the bath.
I love that she loves this game so much.  At first, I honestly got tired of playing it with her because it was almost every night, but now it is a part of our routine.  Even when Lora bathes the girls, I always get Presley out because of this, and then slop lotion on her after the game is finished.  I’m starting to love this game as much as Presley does, and I know that one day she won’t want to play it anymore, and I am not looking forward to that at all, so I am enjoying every moment of it now.  I love my pink egg.

  1. so precious. I started laughing as soon as I saw the picture. So precious. Can I play it with her or is it just a game with Daddy?
