Movie Day

Presley's school is always off the day after a Monday holiday (Labor and Memorial) for "teacher work" days, but I've noticed that there are usually not any cars at her school after noon.  I'll never understand why they take off the Tuesday after the Monday holiday instead of the Friday before the Monday holiday, but that is only the background for this post.
Presley was off from school yesterday, the Tuesday after Memorial Day (see above), and at Lora’s suggestion, I decided to take her to see a movie in a movie theater for the first time.  I told her we were going to see Cars 2 the night before, but it doesn’t come out until June 24th, so we saw Rio instead, and it was actually very good.  A few notes from the event below.

1.       I took Presley potty at home right before we left.  As I was taking her potty, I explained to her how important it was that she went potty and did not have any accidents during the movie because we would have to leave without finishing the movie.  Her response was, “Daddy, you have to go potty too.”  (I guess she wanted to make sure that I didn’t make us leave the movie early.)
2.      I explained to her before we got there that it would be dark, and there would be other people in the movie so she had to whisper whenever she talked to me.  We went to a 9:45 AM showing, and we were the only ones there.  She quickly reminded me of that, and no matter how many times I told her to whisper, she talked in her inside voice when she did talk.  Although she didn’t talk as much as I thought she would.
3.      We got a small popcorn to share, but I wanted her to get most of it, so I wasn’t eating that much.  She kept telling me to “eat the popcorn” with her OR she would just feed me directly.
4.      Ten minutes before the movie was over, she stood up and told me that she wanted to go home.  Ten minutes later, when the movie was over, she told me it wasn’t over yet during the credits because they were still singing.  When we walked out of the theater, the second thing she told me was that she didn’t want to go home.
5.      The first thing she told me was that she didn’t get to see Cars 2.

It was a fun thing to experience with her.  Everything was new to her.  The stairs with lights on them. The big screen. The chairs that fold down.  I had a lot of fun with my girl, and she had a lot of fun too.
