On August 26, 2011, while blogging about a girl that scratched P1 at school, I said the following:
"Again, as a parent this is very frustrating. HAVING SAID THAT, I try to keep an open mind because if my child hit, poked, bit, scratched, etc., other kids, then I bet it would also be frustrating as a parent because I've heard that a lot of times when kids do this, it is because they don't know how to express themselves, and there really isn't a lot you can do to prevent it. Paxten is still too young to know if she is going to go through this phase or not, but I hope we don't experience the other side of the coin with her, but if we do, we'll deal with it. I've told you before that she is a fireball!"
On Friday when I picked up Paxten, I had the following conversation with one of her teachers:
Me: Oh hi, I haven't seen you all week.
Teacher: Oh I was sick, but I'm fine now.
Me: How was Paxten today?
Teacher: She was fine. Everybody said that she has been bad all week and would give me a hard time, but she was fine.
Me: Wait. What do you mean she was bad all week? This is the first I've heard of it, and I talk to her teachers every day.
Teacher: They said this week she's been hitting other kids, pushing them down, and taking their toys away from them.
I am now the frustrated parent that I talked about in August. Paxten is such a sweet child, but does stuff like this to see what she can get away with. The other day she picked up a stool and hit Presley over the head with it. I was so angry at her, and I hate that. She's not even 2 yet, and I try to keep telling myself that, but it is very frustrating when she does stuff like this. I love her so much, but I am lost at a solution for this right now. She knows it's wrong, but she continues to do it to push our buttons and see what she can get away with. Maybe I'm blinded by my love for her, but I think that this is just one more sign of her intelligence. I love my fireball!
