Paxten is 2. She wants to be in control of everything, and reminds of this almost hourly. The most common phrase she says is "my do it" whenever she wants to do something, but the other night she took it to another level, and I thought it was funny. Here is an example of an interaction that occurred between the two of us and Poppy last night while I was attempting to put her pajamas on her, and again, this is very normal. Paxten is 2.
Me: Paxten, come put on your pajamas. (I had some in my hand.)
P2: No. Dora. Dora.
Me: You want Dora pajamas?
P2: Yeah.
Me: Okay, here they are.
P2: No. Abby and Zoe.
Me: You want Abby and Zoe pajamas?
P2: Yeah.
Me: Okay, here they are.
P2: No, my find it!
(At this point, she grabbed the pajamas out of my hand, put them back into the open drawer, closed the drawer, then opened the drawer again, and pulled them out.)
P2: I did it!
Me: Okay, let me help you put them on.
P2: No, my do it.
Me: Okay. You do it.
(She couldn't do it.)
Me: Here let me do it.
Me: Here let me do it.
(I put them on her.)
P2: No, Poppy do it.
Me: I've already done it.
P2: (She started crying.) Poppy do it! Poppy do it!
(I took them off of her and handed them back to her.)
P2: Poppy do it.
(She handed them to her Poppy and he put them on.)
I understand that she is just testing her limits, and Lora suggests that I give her too many options some times, but when I don't let her "do it," she throws temper-tantrum crying fits that last 20 minutes, and then her answer to everything is "NO!" Paxten is 2.
*I will admit, I do love how cuddly and affectionate she becomes after a 20 minute crying session/temper tantrum....as long as I have time to let it pass. I love my strong minded girl!
