A funny thing happened when I went to check on Paxten on Tuesday night, actually two funny things happened.
First, I put Paxten to bed around 7:30, and then I read to Presley and put her to bed, and then I played on the computer until about 8:45. I had not heard a peep from either girl since I put them down, so I decided to check on them before I went down stairs for the evening. I checked on Presley, she was too hot, so I took all the stuffed animals out of her arms and put them to the side and pulled her hair back and re-tucked her in while she slept. Then I went into Paxten’s room. She still sleeps in her crib, so I was not looking for her when I walked in. When I finally got above her crib, I looked down to see how she had fallen asleep this time, but instead, she was sitting up staring at me and smiling. It actually startled me and made me laugh (to myself) to see that because I was expecting a sleeping Paxten. She was tired, so I picked her up to hold her and sing to her and comfort her in the rocking chair before I laid her back down.
Second, as I was holding her, I started singing to her. I knew she was tired because she wasn’t fighting me and she had her eyes closed and was snuggling up against me in her blanket. I sang Silent Night first and she kept her eyes closed. After that I started singing ABC’s to her, but when I got to “…V, W, X, Y, and Z, now I know…,” she opened her eyes and started grinning, and then when I finished she said, “Yeah!” It cracked me up! You should know that whenever someone counts to 10 or says their ABC’s she always follows it up with a “yeah!” but I wasn’t expecting it when I was trying to put her to sleep. I laid her down after that and did not hear a peep from her the rest of the night, but it did take her another 30 minutes to go to sleep. (I could see her moving on her video monitor.)
I love my sweet girl!
