For several months now, as Lora or I have put Paxten to bed, we've tried unsuccessfully to read to her. I guess technically the books are getting read to her, but she won't sit there and let you read them to her. She will grab the book from your hand, or try to turn the page and scream if you don't let her, or just squirm the entire time. Bottom line, she has never seemed to enjoy being read to. Since I've noticed this, I've often thought that I didn't remember Presley acting that way when she was Paxten's current age, but I've always decided that Paxten was just too young, and I was not remembering correctly.
Well I’ve decided now that Paxten is 16 months old that I can remember reading Good Night Moon to Presley when she was 16 months old AND Presley did just sit in our laps and let us read to her, unlike Paxten. She would “show us the mouse” on every page and sit there sucking her fingers while we read to her. Maybe Paxten will grow out of it and start to love being read to, but as it stands, she doesn’t have the patience to be read to right now.
Lora and I will continue attempting to read to her because it is good for her, but hopefully it will get easier before too long. I love my wiggle worm!
