Negotiating Presley

Last week, I was having a hard time getting Presley to willingly go to bed one night, so I made a deal with her.

We agreed that she could stay up for 5 more minutes coloring, and then watch (not read) Green Eggs and Ham on the computer, BUT after it was over, she had to go straight to bed without any stories, songs or books.  So Green Eggs and Ham ended, and this is what happened next:

P1:  Daddy, I want to watch it again.

Me:  No Presley.

P1:  Just one more time.

Me:  Presley, no.  We talked about this.  I let you watch it, and you agreed that you would just watch it one time and then go straight to bed with no books.  It’s time for bed.

P1:  But daddy.

Me:  No Presley, it’s time for bed.  Come on.

P1:  Can I have a song? ?

Me:  No.

P1:  Just one song? (Holding up a single finger)

Me:  Fine, I’ll sing you one song.  Let’s go.

P1:  But don’t want a song.  Can I watch Green Eggs and Ham instead of a song?

She did not get to watch it again, but I did sing to her and tickle her back while I sang.
