Seuss

Presley got Dr. Seuss's Fox in Socks at her book exchange over the holidays.  I love reading that book to her.  I like it because it is challenging to read, fun to read, and I've read that the more new words a child hears before they are five, the better.
I liked it so much that I ordered the Dr. Seuss beginner library.
It included the following five (5) books:
The Cat in the Hat
Green Eggs and Ham
Hop on Pop
Fox in Socks
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
The day they came in, I read one of the books to Paxten and Presley and three of the books to Presley.  I must say that I enjoyed reading all of them, and I enjoy the interaction with P1 because she really enjoys them too.
While we were reading Green Eggs and Ham, once the main character tried them and liked them, P1 got so excited:
"Daddy, he likes them! ! ! ! "
She then "read" it to me the next night, and I could not believe how much she remembered from just the one reading.  I think the pictures helped, but I was proud.
I don’t really remember a lot of Dr. Seuss’s books when I was a child, other than Green Eggs and Ham, but I am here to tell you that Presley and I have the same favorite children’s author, and it is Dr. Seuss.  I think it is amazing too that we get so much enjoyment from books that were written over 50 years ago!
