The following conversation took place the other day.
Me: Presley I thought you wanted to go to the park. You do don't you?
P1: Yes.
Me: Well go potty and put your shoes on so we can go.
P1: Daddy at school today Lauren hurt her head.
Me: Presley, I am ready to go to the park. We are waiting on you.
P1: Lauren hurt her head today at school.
Me: Presley, I don't care. Go potty so we can go.
P1: But Daddy. (Whimpering)
Me: Presley don't you want to go to the park?
(At this point Presley starts bawling, and this was not a fake cry.)
Me: Presley, what's wrong?
P1: You won't let me tell you my story.
Me: Presley, you can tell your story. I don't know Lauren, and I thought you wanted to go to the park, but you can tell your story.
(Presley is still crying)
Me: Oh Presley, I hurt your feelings. I'm sorry. Tell me your story.
(Presley stopped crying, but it was not a fake cry)
P1: Lauren hurt her head at school today.
Me: Oh my gosh! Did she get a band aid?
P1: Yes.
Me: Is she okay now?
P1: Yes.
Me: You ready to go potty now?
P1: Yes.
Obviously Presley is sensitive just like her daddy, and Presley’s daddy lacks patience just like his daddy.
