The first day we were allowed into the house that we currently live in, I had two gentlemen there working on two different things with the same purpose: safety.
First, I put a latch that is just above my head on every door so my daughter Presley, who was almost 8 months old at the time, could not get out of the house until she was a lot taller. I put these on the doors to the backyard too because we have a swimming pool that I don’t want any child to ever have easy access to.
Second, I had a gentleman there who put a safety fence all the way around said swimming pool, which was even more important than the latches on the doors for obvious reasons in a home with kids that also hosts parties with kids.
Presley will never be able to get into the pool until she is older, but she can get into the backyard whenever she wants to now, even if all the doors are locked and latched. You want to know how? Here is a picture of her coming back in after one of her trips outside:
